Blogspiration (15): Our Deepest Fear

Blogspiration is a new weekly meme hosted by GrowingUpYA and Saz101. The meme was created to help spark inspiration among bloggers, readers and writers alike. An inspirational quote/picture/video  is posted weekly, on the day of the author's choosing, so that it may inspire creativity, conversation or just a little SOMETHING.

This week I have a quote that's very close to my heart. I'll be a good girl and just let it speak for itself.

Happy Sunday!!

  1. wow! Very deep quote! Everyone should strive to do their best even in adversity.

  2. Oh my goodness Kristin. There's a quote to make you pause.
I think the hardest thing about doing this is that quite often in our society you're seen as being arrogant of full of yourself if you do admit to being good at something, or liking something about yourself. (And then you're an attention-seeking whiner if you say you don't like yourself, so you can't really win).
And yeah, arrogance isn't an attractive trait. But self-confidence is. I guess - like so many other things - the line between them gets pretty blurry.
I always think of L. M. Montgomery's book The Story Girl when Sara remarks, "It's not vanity to know your good points. It's just stupidity if you don't. It's vanity to get puffed up about them."

And I think sometimes it's easier to notice this about other people - like I always get so frustrated when I see my little cousins or my friends talking themselves down because I - from my perspective - can see so much potential - so much love and creativity and energy that they have to give to the world - but they can't see that. But then, I don't stop and think, "Well, what do I have to give? How can I shine?"
    *runs out of breath*
So yeah... such a good reminder. Thank you. :-)
