Black Dawn

Synopsis (Goodreads): In Last Breath, the rain brought a new and dire threat to Morganville and its vampires... their ancient enemies, the draug. Now, the vampires are fighting a losing war, and it will fall to the residents of the Glass House: Michael, Eve, Shane and Claire, to take the fight to an enemy who threatens to destroy the town, forever.

Lovers of Morganville, rejoice: Black Dawn takes the intrigue, romance and nail-biting suspense of the series to its highest level yet!

-----

Before I get started on this book, let's take a drive down memory lane, shall we?

Seatbelts, please.

I remember buying the first Morganville Vampires book (Glass Houses) way back in 2006 during my Sophomore year of college. It took me FOREVER to pick it up, but once I did I swore my undying loyalty to a vampire-loving goddess also known as Rachel Caine.

Six years later and here I am. Clutching Black Dawn (okay...it's technically my Kindle) to my chest, while sobbing hysterically, ans asking the book gods why (Whyyyyyyyyyy???) I have to wait until November for the next book in the series, Bitter Blood.

I've been with these crazy kids from the beginning and they've grown so much ever since. The wonderful thing about a series, especially one as long as Morganville, is that it gives an author time to develop and really flesh-out their characters. This story really cemented that for me and I find that these characters have staked their way into my heart. See what I did there?

Black Dawn picks up right where Last Breath left us...hanging on a cliff of angst and woe. And maybe some warm fuzzies (I am talking to you, Shane)! Pardon my dramatics but by book 12 of any series you kind of wonder where an author could possibly go next. Lucky for us we're not just dealing with any author. We're talking about the goddess formerly known as CAINE. The goddess who unflnichingly pulls out the big guns with her stories and never fails to meet my every expectation.

In case you had any doubts, please know that things are only getting better in the secluded Texas town (Although I am sure Clare and the gang would disagree). The action/adventure is fiercely consuming, the stakes have reached an all-time high and Shane may just be as swoon-worthy as he's ever been.

Come on, you know I love me some Shane! *wink*

Things are-a-changin' in the quiet (HA!) town of Morganville, Texas. And if you ask me, I have a feeling this is only the beginning.

Just don't say I didn't warn you...

  1. I'm totally missing out! I haven't read this series (Okay, I'm not much of a vampire girl. I prefer living, breathing, sexy werewolves.) But you've certainly snagged my curiosity.
